Hasecic Scores Twice to Push Saints to a 6-0 Win Over Southwest Baptist

St. Louis – The Maryville men's soccer team exploded for three first half goals en route to a 6-0 victory over Southwest Baptist Friday afternoon at Maryville Field. Mirza Hasecic continued his outstanding early season play with a pair of goals in the opening 45 minutes to lead the Saints to their fifth win of the season.

What Happened – The fifth-ranked Saints wasted no time in taking the lead as Hasecic drilled a free kick from 23-yards out in the first minute to put Maryville on top 1-0. Iwan Webster added the Saints lead in the 23rd minute as he buried a penalty kick in the lower right side of the goal to push the lead to 2-0. Hasecic continued the offensive fireworks in the 30th  minute as he scored from 5-yards out to push the Saints advantage to 3-0. Eyob Tadesse and JD Sohn were credited with assists on Hasecic's second goal of the day. Maryville added to the lead in the 49th minute as the Bearcats misplayed a centering pass and saw the ball trickle into the net to give the Saints a 4-0 lead. JD Sohn and Victor DeGiorgio each added goals in the last five minutes of the match to secure the win.

Inside the Numbers – The Saints had a season-high 17 shots while holding the Bearcats to only one shot in the contest. Hasecic now leads the Great Lakes Valley Conference with seven goals on the season. Maryville has not allowed a goal in over 385 minutes over the past five games.
