Mirza Hasecic scored two goals for the third game in a row while
Ben Brodie added his first score of the year to pace the No. 5 Maryville men's soccer team to a 3-2 victory over Drury Sunday afternoon at Maryville Field.
What Happened – Hasecic opened the scoring for the Saints as he collected a rebound and ripped a shot from 5-yards out in the ninth minute to put Maryville on top 1-0. The Panthers evened the match in the 40
th minute with a header off a free kick from 10-yards out to make the score 1-1.
The Saints regained the lead in the 56th minute as
Ben Brodie scored off a centering pass from
Grady Schliepsiek from 7-yards out to give Maryville a 2-1 advantage. Hasecic added an insurance goal 42 seconds later with a blast from 25-yards out into the upper left corner of the goal to put the Saints ahead 3-1. Drury cut the Maryville lead in half in the 63
rd minute with goal from 28-yards out off a free kick to make the score 3-2.
Inside the Numbers – Hasecic now leads the Great Lakes Valley Conference in goals scored on the year with nine. The six-game winning streak for the Saints ties for the fourth longest in program history.
