Amanda Kaltwasser scored in each half as the Maryville women's soccer team sprinted out to a four-goal lead after the first 45 minutes and cruised to a 5-0 win over Southwest Baptist Friday afternoon at Maryville Field.
Lexi Gentry added a pair of assists in the first half uprising to help the Saints claim their third victory of the season.
What Happened – The Saints wasted no time in the first half as Kaltwasser took a centering pass from Gentry and placed a header into the top left corner of the net to give Maryville a 1-0 lead in the ninth minute. Maryville extended the lead 12 seconds later as Gentry found
Alex Johnson with a pass off a turnover and Johnson ripped a shot from 14-yards out to put the Saints ahead 2-0.
Erin Barnes added to the lead in the 25
th minute with a goal from the right wing to make the score 3-0. The Saints continued the offensive outburst in the 44
th minute as
Caite Huesgen found the back of the goal from 7-yards out to give Maryville a 4-0 advantage.
Kaltwasser scored her second goal of the day in the 63
rd minute as she placed a rebound off a
Claudia King shot into the right side of the goal from 10-yards out to put Maryville ahead 5-0.
Katie Nash was credited with two saves on the afternoon to earn her second win of the season.
Inside the Numbers – The Saints had a season-high 21 shots with 13 of those being on frame in the contest. Johnson and Kaltwasser each had four shots to pace the Maryville offensive attack.
