Amanda Kaltwasser scored with a little more than a minute remaining in regulation to help the Maryville women's soccer team earn a 1-1 draw with Drury Sunday afternoon at Maryville Field.
What Happened – The teams played to a scoreless first half, but they both had opportunities to crack the scoreboard. The Panthers had a shot ring off the crossbar in the 12
th minute while Stacy Muehling saw a header off a corner kick just miss to the left side of the goal a few minutes later.
The Panthers took the lead in the 56
th minute with a shot from 20-yards out to grab a 1-0 advantage. The Saints scored the equalizer in the 89
th minute as Kaltwasser found the back of the net with a header from 5-yards out off a pass from
Erin Barnes to tie the match at 1-1. Maryville had a chance to win with 34 seconds left in regulation, but the Panthers goalkeeper made a diving stop of a penalty kick to force overtime. Neither team was able to generate a scoring chance in the overtime periods as the game ended in a hard-fought draw.
Inside the Numbers –. The Saints held a 23-11 advantage in shots in the contest with 14 being on frame.
Molly Krispin led the Maryville attack with five shots while
Alex Johnson and Kaltwasser each had four.
