Amanda Kaltwasser scored a pair of goals in the first 22 minutes of the match to propel the Maryville women's soccer team to a 4-0 win over Missouri S&T Friday evening at Allgood-Bailey Stadium in Rolla, Mo.
Stacie Muehling and
Alex Johnson both added two assists to help the Saints win their fourth game of the season.
What Happened – Kaltwasser opened the scoring in the 16
th minute as she collected a pass from Johnson and placed a shot into the lower left side of the goal to give Maryville a 1-0 lead. Kaltwasser struck again in the 22
nd minute as Muehling found her in front of the goal off a free kick to put the Saints on top 2-0.
Lexi Gentry added to the Maryville lead in the 56th minute as she took a pass from Johnson on a breakaway and scored from 19-yards out to make the score 3-0. Five minutes later, Johnson grabbed a pass from Gentry and scored from 10-yards away to give Maryville a 4-0 advantage. The Miners scored in the 87
th minute to make the score 4-1.
Inside the Numbers –. The Saints held a 9-4 advantage in shots in the contest with seven being on frame. Kaltwasser now leads the team with five goals while Johnson is the team leader in points with 11. Gentry continues to lead the Great Lakes Valley Conference with five assists.
