St. Charles, Mo. – Despite holding an advantage in shots during the contest, the Maryville women's soccer team fell to Lindenwood 1-0 Friday evening at Hunter Stadium in St. Charles, Mo.
What Happened – The Lions scored the only goal of the game in the 11
th minute off a corner kick to take a 1-0 lead. The Saints had a chance to tie the match in the 37
th minute as
Amanda Kaltwasser ripped a shot from 19-yards out that hit the crossbar and bounced out of bounds.
Maryville had one more chance to tie the game in the 89
th minute with
Molly Krispin hitting a shot from 25-yards out that glanced off the Lindenwood goalkeeper and hit the crossbar once again.
Inside the Numbers –. After being outshot 9-2 by the Lions in the first half, Maryville bounced back in the second half and held a 12-3 edge in shots.
Lexi Gentry led the Saints offense with four shots while Kaltwasser and Krispin each had three shots.
