Box Score St. Louis – The Maryville women's soccer team scored a goal late in the first half, but could not hold on as the University of Missouri-St. Louis scored the equalizer late in regulation as the teams played to a 1-1 draw at the Lou Fusz Soccer Complex Sunday afternoon.
What Happened – Lexi Gentry put the Saints on the scoreboard in the 36
th minute as she collected a pass from
Alex Johnson and ripped a shot into the top right part of the goal to give Maryville a 1-0 advantage.
After a defensive battle took place for the first 35 minutes of the second half, the Tritons evened the match in the 84
th minute with a shot into the lower right side of the goal to make the score 1-1. The Saints had an opportunity early in the first overtime as
Stacie Muehling took a corner kick and saw her shot miss to the left side of the goal.
Inside the Numbers – The Saints outshot the Tritons 16-6 with seven of those being on frame. Gentry and
Amanda Kaltwasser led the Saints attack with three shots each.
