Men's Lacrosse Uses 5-0 Burst to Put Lewis Away 15-11 and Remain Unbeaten

The No. 14 Maryville men's lacrosse team used big runs early and late to move to 5-0 on the season with a 15-11 triumph over Lewis. The Saints scored the first four goals of the contest to take control and a 5-0 burst over the third and fourth quarter to seal the victory. Twelve different Saints scored at least one goal.

What Happened
Tyler Wenck rifled in a low shot to open the scoring. Mitchell Kaye and Ben Foster found the back of the net in less than a minute for a 3-0 edge. Declan Mulholland put the Saints up 4-0 at the 6:39 mark. Lewis finally scored at the end of the first and to open the second. Parker Lee sprinted the length of the field for a goal, and Cooper George won the ensuing faceoff and scored for a 6-2 lead. The Saints went into halftime up 8-5.
 
The teams traded goals as Lewis trimmed the Maryville margin to 10-8. Justin Moran scored, and Jake Foster tallied a man-up goal. Aidan Koenig fired in a shot with seven seconds remaining in the third for a 13-8 advantage. Jake Foster scored early in the fourth, and Jake Socia tallied to push the Saints ahead 15-8 with just over seven minutes to play. The Flyers tried to make a late run but the Saints held on to remain unbeaten on the season.

What's Next?
The Saints have a small break and do not return to action until Wednesday, March 31, as nationally-ranked Indianapolis comes to town for a 2 p.m. start at the Maryville Athletic Complex. The clash is the first of a home-and-home series that week.
