Belleville, Ill. – The Maryville women's bowling team won a pair of matches to advance to the consolation final in the Great Lakes Valley Conference Women's Bowling Championship being held at the Bel-Air Bowl in Belleville, Ill. The Saints defeated Lewis in the opening match 2-0 while eliminating Upper Iowa later in the day by a score of 2-0.
The Saints came out on fire in the traditional game, defeating the Flyers 981-827 to take a 1-0 lead.
Brianna Schmidt threw a 214 while
Keagan Trexler added a 205 to pace Maryville in the first leg. The Saints continued to bowl well in the five Baker games as they eliminated Lewis from the Championship by a count of 916-833.
Maryville carried its momentum over to the afternoon session as the Saints knocked off the Peacocks 1,036-650 in the traditional games. Schmidt threw a 266 with
Bailey Delrose adding a 214 to pace the Saints. Maryville won the Baker games 932-797 to advance to the consolation final.
Maryville and Central Missouri will square off on Sunday at 8:30 a.m., in a rematch from Friday afternoon. The winner will face McKendree at 1:30 p.m. and must defeat the Bearcats twice to be crowned as the inaugural league champion.
