Coach Russo Announces Departure from Maryville Women’s Bowling

ST. LOUIS – Maryville University Athletics announced that head women's bowling coach Lauren Russo has resigned her position. Russo departs from the program with an added focus on her family and her professional WPBA tour career.

"The Saints are going to miss Coach Russo," Vice President of Athletics and Recreation Brittany C. Fennell said. "This program has turned into one of the best not only in NCAA Division II, but in all of the NCAA, and that does not happen without Lauren."

Russo turned the Maryville women's bowling program into a nationally ranked top 10 program and led the Saints to four straight NCAA Tournament berths and the 2024 Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) championship. Russo was named GLVC Coach of the Year three times and NTCA Division II Coach of the Year twice.

Under Russo, the Saints also produced three GLVC Players of the Year, two GLVC Freshmen of the Year and three straight NTCA Division II Player of the Year honorees.

"I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to have led this program to new heights over the past four years," Russo said. "The relationships and memories I've gained along the way will stay with me forever. I'm proud of what we have accomplished together and will always be grateful to have been a Saint"
