ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Maryville women's bowling team is Saturday bound at the NCAA Regional held in Rochester, N.Y., as the Saints rebounded from a 2-0 loss to Sam Houston State in the first round to knock off Dominican (N.Y.) 2-0.
Bowling in the same mega-match style as the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) tournament, the Saints fell by a 970-961 result in the traditional leg to Sam Houston to fall behind.
The Bearkats were aggressive with their equipment choice, using high surface balls to force the Saints to push through heavy oil and it paid off in the second leg.
Baker saw Maryville struggled with the lane and comfortability as the Saints were forced to the bottom side of the bracket with a 1175-1055 final.
Shaking off the nerves and the frustration from the first contest, the Saints came out on fire against Dominican, posting a 958-926 game one victory. Sticky lane approaches forced some adversity for the Saints in the second leg, but Maryville pulled through in baker, scoring a 1054-819 win to punch Dominican (NY) out of the tournament.
