BELLVILLE, Ill. – The Maryville bowling team, despite coming all the way back through the backside of the bracket, came a match short of its third-straight title, falling to Newman Jets in the final match 2-1.

SUNDAY
The Saints began their chase for a title with another match against No. 5-seeded Oklahoma Christian, the team that knocked the Saints down to the backside with a 2-0 win on the first day of action. The Saints flipped the script on Sunday, rallying in Baker play, winning the final two legs of competition to take it 2-1.
The Saints tallied bake games of 220, 250 and 213 to dominate the second leg with a 139 advantage. The domination kept going from there as the Saints averaged 194.5 over four games to sweep the best-of-seven Baker round.
The championship match as the Saints fell behind after traditional play, losing 911-865, but rally through baker play, again averaging a 194 to win by 15 pins and to force the best-of-seven. However, the Jets caught fire in the final leg, winning in four games to secure their first league title.
SATURDAY
Facing an uphill battle, the Saints came into Saturday hungry. In the first session,
Elizabeth Teuber was the engine of traditional play versus the No. 7-seeded Quincy Hawks, tossing a 213 to lead Maryville. The baker portion is where the Saints caught fire with 217 average and high games of 245 and 237.
The foot stayed on the gas for Maryville as they dominated the UCM Jennies. Teuber again was the force on the traditional play, hitting on a 249. In baker, a 193.8 average was all that was needed to put the Saints into contention for their third straight chip.
FRIDAY
Starting out on Friday, it was all Saints early. The top-seeded Saints made quick work of the No. 8-seeded UIndy Greyhounds, with
Brooke Pabst and
Morgan Brunner led the Saints in the Traditional game win, knocking down 222 pins each. The Bakers side was more domination for Maryville as the team averaged 211.6 to oust the Hounds.
After the break, the Saints stumbled as No. 5 Oklahoma Christian soared. Despite tossing 923 in traditional as a team a 961 in baker, the Eagles caught fire and knocked the Saints into the back side in just two legs.
