INDIANAPOLIS – The Maryville women's bowling team has another date with the NCAA Tournament, earning the No. 2-seed in the Rochester, N.Y. regional. The Saints (76-34), will battle Sam Houston (78-41) in the first round April 3.
The Saints earned an at-large bid after falling short by one match in the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament to Newman. Maryville is making its fourth-straight trip to the NCAA Tournament, most recently falling in the Pittsburg, Pa., regional to No. 1-seed Nebraska a season ago.
The top seed in the Saints bracket in Rochester is Vanderbilt; while playing in the opening round are Dominican (NY) and Alabama A&M.
The double-elimination tournament has a 19-team championship field. Eleven conferences earned automatic qualification, with the remaining eight teams selected at-large by the women's bowling committee.
