Belleville, Ill. – The Maryville women's bowling team fell to Central Missouri in the consolation final to finish third in the Great Lakes Valley Conference Women's Bowling Championship at Bel-Air Bowl in Belleville, Ill., Sunday morning. The Jennies defeated the Saints, 2-1 to move on to the championship match.
The Saints started the morning by taking the traditional games leg by a score of 1,087-932.
Macailin Rodriguez threw a 236 while
Brianna Schmidt tossed a 225 the give Maryville a 1-0 lead. Central Missouri battled back and forced the mega-match by taking the five Baker game set, 986-928. The Saints took the first two games of the best of seven Baker match play, but the Jennies rallied and won the next four games to defeat Maryville 4-2 and advance to the championship match against McKendree.
The Saints will now wait and see if their name will be called to participate in the NCAA National Championships that will be held in Kansas City, Mo. The announcement will be made on March 31.
