Dominic Connolly drove in a pair of runs while
Ryan Louck struck out 11 batters as the Maryville baseball team defeated Southern Indiana 6-3 Friday afternoon at Weber Field. Louck threw 6.1 innings and allowed five hits in the contest to earn his third win of the season.
Game One:
The Screaming Eagles opened the scoring in the top of the second with a pair of run on three hits to take an early 2-0 advantage. Maryville answered in the home half of the inning as
Jamie Young hit a two-run blast over the right field wall to even the game at 2-2.
Maryville grabbed the lead in the third as Connolly drove in a run with a triple and then scored on a
Joey Polak single to put the Saints on top 4-2. The offense continued to produce in the fifth as Connolly and
Matt Schuler each drove in runs with singles to extend the Maryville advantage to 6-2. The Screaming Eagles scored a run in the top of the ninth, but that is all they could muster as
Drake Salsman got the final three Screaming Eagles batters out to push Maryville to their fifth consecutive win.
