Ryan Louck tossed eight strong innings with 13 strikeouts to boost the Maryville baseball team to a 4-1 victory over Winona State Saturday afternoon at U.S. Ballpark in Ozark, Mo.
Dominic Connolly drove in a pair of runs to help the Saints earn their first win of the season.
Game One:
The Warriors broke out to an early 1-0 in the top of the second frame, but the Saints answered in their half of the third. Connolly singled to open the inning and moved to third on a pair of ground outs. He scored on a pass ball to even the game at 1-1.
Maryville took the lead in the fourth as Connolly ripped a two-run double into the gap in left center field to put the Saints on top 3-1. Maryville scored an insurance run in the sixth as
Alex Hoff hit a sacrifice fly to left field to score
Elias Stevens as the Saints extended the lead to 4-1.
Louck earned his first win of the year going eight innings and yielding seven hits while issuing only one free pass. The 13 strikeouts is third most during a single game in program history.
Jamie Young entered the game in the ninth and earned his first save as a Saint.
