Box Score 2 Ozark, Mo. – The Maryville baseball team saw victory and defeat Sunday afternoon at U.S. Ballpark in Ozark, Mo. The Saints fell to Winona St. 2-1 in the opening game of the day. The Saints rebounded and took down Drury 11-2 in the nightcap with a little help from the long ball.
Game One:
Kaleb Huxford put together a terrific pitching performance against Winona St. going eight innings, allowing two earned runs, and striking out 13 Warriors. Winona State broke through with a two-run homer in the top of the sixth inning. The Saints answered in the bottom half of the inning when
Michael Gould doubled in
Alex Hoff to make the score 2-1. Maryville was unable to muster any more offense in this pitcher's duel as the Warriors earned a weekend split against the Saints.

Game Two:
The Saints offense came alive against Drury when
Dominic Connolly singled and
Joey Polak was hit by a pitch to put runners at first and second.
Ben Hopkins then plunked a three-run homer over the right field fence to give the Saints an early 3-0 advantage.
Maryville extended their lead in the third frame with yet another three-run blast, this time by Hoff, that brought in
Matt Schuler and
Tyler Ward. The Panthers tallied a run in the fifth off of a single.
Michael Gould hit a two-run single up the middle in the eighth inning to give the Saints an 8-1 advantage. Drury added one in the bottom half, making the score 8-2.
The Saints tacked on three more runs in the ninth inning, two of which were courtesy of a Gould base-clearing triple to put Maryville on top 11-2.
Tanner Marshall collected his first win of the season after pitching six strong innings and striking out nine Panthers to give Maryville a spilt on the day.
