Big Third Quarter Boosts Saints Men's Lacrosse Past Davenport 14-5

The Maryville men's lacrosse team used a big third quarter to break the game open to down Davenport 14-5 Saturday morning. The Saints outscored the visiting Panthers 6-0 in the third quarter. Jake Foster, Aidan Koenig and Justin Morgan all scored three goals apiece, while Mitchell Kaye dished out five assists.

What Happened
Davenport scored the first goal of the game but the Saints answered with to man-up goals on the same opportunity to take the lead. Jacob Allen tallied the first and Koenig put the Saints ahead. Koenig scored again for a 3-1 edge after one. The teams traded goals before Ethan Olson and Parker Lee scored for a 6-3. Morgan and Foster found the back of the next as the Saints took an 8-4 lead into halftime.
 
Morgan scored 48 seconds into the third to spark the big run. After Olson's second of the game, Foster tallied two straight. Kaye recorded his first goal, before Morgan closed out his hat trick with a score late in the third. Maryville cruised in the fourth quarter to run their winning streak to three.
 
Saints goalie Connor Robinson shut the door on Davenport's attack for nearly 30 minutes and made nine saves in the contest. Maryville's defense gave up just one goal over the nearly final 35 minutes of play. Owen Wostoupal won eight of 13 faceoffs, while Cooper George took six of nine at the dot.
