Kansas City, Mo. – The Maryville women's soccer team surrendered two goals in the first half and could not recover as Rockhurst defeated the Saints 4-0 Sunday afternoon at Bourke Field in Kansas City, Mo.
What Happened – The Hawks opened the scoring in the 10
th minute with a goal to take an early 1-0 lead. Rockhurst added a second goal in the 38
th minute to extend the lead to 2-0. The Saints were able to connect on five shots in the first half, but only one was on frame. Maryville had a few opportunities early in the second half as
Erin Barnes and
Claudia King each put shots on goal, but both were saved by the Rockhurst goalkeeper. The Hawks added a pair of insurance goals midway through the half to earn the home victory.
Inside the Numbers – The Saints outshot Rockhurst 14-13 with eight shots being on frame.
Alex Johnson and King each had four shots to pace the Saints attack.
Katie Nash made three saves and suffered the loss for Maryville.
