Rockhurst Recap
St. Louis - The Maryville men's lacrosse team mounted a late rally but Rockhurst held on for a 14-12 win Saturday at the Maryville Athletic Complex. The Saints used a balanced attack as 10 different players scored at least one goal. Maryville went a perfect 15-for-15 on clear attempts.

What Happened
The Saints drew a penalty early in the game and Aidan Koenig converted a man-up opportunity for the early lead. Rockhurst answered with two goals but Maryville reeled off three straight. Ben Foster scored to tie the game. After a Hawks turnover, Jake Socia took the ball and sprinted down the field and fired in a goal to put the Saints on top 3-2. Seth Cianfoni built the advantage to 4-2 midway through the second. However, Rockhurst tallied five of the next six goals to grab a 7-5 lead at the break.

The Hawks tacked on two more goals to start the third before Justin Morgan scored on another man-up situation for the Saints. The teams traded goals as Tim McCarthy, Aidan Koenig and Tyler Wenck all found the back of the net. Rockhurst went back up 14-9 before the Saints made a late push. Ethan Olson and Jake Foster scored to bring the Saints to within 14-11. Jacob Allen notched a goal in the final minute but the Saints were unable to gain possession.

The Saints held the advantage over the Hawks 28-19 in shots-on-goal but were stymied by RU goalie Hayden Harris who made 16 saves. Maryville converted all three of its extra-man chances.
