Indianapolis – The University of Indianapolis plated seven runs in the middle innings en route to an 11-4 victory over the Maryville University baseball team Saturday afternoon at Greyhound Park in Indianapolis.
Game One:
The Saints and the Greyhounds were locked up in a pitcher's duel for the first three innings as
Tanner Marshall was yet to allow a hit. The Greyhounds broke the game open in the fourth and fifth innings with three runs and four runs, respectively, making it a 7-0 ballgame.
Tyler Ward got the offense rolling for the Saints in the seventh inning with a single to center field. After a
Jamie Young walk and a
Nick Hofmann hit by pitch,
Jackson Burrell battled for a bases loaded walk to put the Saints on the scoreboard.
Michael Gould and
Dominic Connolly followed that up with a pair of infield singles to score Young, Hofmann, and Burrell, making it a 7-4 deficit.
UIndy answered with three runs of their own in the bottom of the seventh to extend the lead to 10-4 and added another run in the eighth to take an 11-4 advantage.
