What Happened
The Saints tied set one at 4-4 after kills by Avery Bell and Ahlhardt. However, the Tritons scored seven of the next eight points to jump ahead. The Saints made a push by scoring three straight to cut the deficit to 20-15 but UMSL scored five consecutive points to take the set.

Karolina Rodowski and Ahlhardt notched back-to-back kills to put the Saints on top 2-1. UMSL edged ahead before Hannah Scrum put down a kill to make it 5-4. The Tritons had two 4-0 runs midway through the second set to pull ahead. After a Rodowski kill, Abbie Schnell served an ace, and Rodowski and Scrum had a block but the Saints never got closer than seven points the rest of the set.

Trailing 2-1 in set three, the Saints reeled off four straight points. Ahlhardt started the run with a kill, and UMSL had two errors. Ella Kosky came up with a solo block as Maryville took a 5-2 cushion. The Saints still led 6-5 before the Tritons took an 8-6 lead. Maryville forged an 8-8 tie until UMSL scored three straight to take a lead it would not give up. The Saints stayed close and an Ahlhardt kill cut UMSL's advantage to 19-15 but the Tritons held on for the victory.
