Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Saints Get Back on Track with Dominant 2-0 Victory

St. Louis, Mo. – The Maryville University men's soccer team got back on track Sunday afternoon with a 2-0 dominant victory over William Jewell College. Freshman Bryce Dickerson and senior Ricardo Andrade notched their first goals of the season in the win.

The Run of Play – The Great Lakes Valley Conference matchup started slow with leading goal scorer Mirza Hasecic and freshman Mason Crew putting shots on frame, only to be denied by the Cardinals backline. The Saints broke through in the 43rd minute when defender Cameron Caldwell lofted a ball from the Maryville half over the William Jewell defense for Dickerson to slot home the first goal of his young career.

In the 54th minute, senior Emil Antonacci kept the ball in play at the end line and sent a cross into the penalty area where a Cardinals defender misjudged his clearance attempt and Andrade was there to pounce on the mistake, giving the Saints a 2-0 lead. Junior goalkeeper Nick Hemann was called into action in the 66th minute and made a fantastic save to keep the Cardinals off the scoreboard. Maryville outshot William Jewell 15-2 in the second half and came away with the 2-0 Sunday victory.

Inside the Numbers – The shutout victory marks six straight wins over William Jewell with the Saints outscoring the Cardinals 20-2 since 2016.
