St. Louis – The Maryville men's basketball team returned to Great Lakes Valley Conference play but saw a late rally fall short as Quincy held on for a 71-67 win Sunday afternoon in Moloney Arena.
Cameron Scales paced four Saints in double figures with 16 points.
Daniel Farris added 13 points, eight assists and five rebounds.

What Happened:
The game was close throughout the first half before the Hawks sank back-to-back 3-pointers for a 25-19 lead.
Cameron Scales scored two straight baskets, and a
Daniel Farris three-point play put the Saints back on top 26-25. Maryville still led 29-28 but the Hawks tallied five straight.
Kelvin Swims and Farris scored on layups late to pull the Saints to within 35-32 at halftime.

The Saints tied the game 37-37 on a layup by Scales and a triple from
Ari Jackson. Quincy scored but a trey by Swims and a bucked by
Dylan Ingram boosted the Saints to a 42-39 edge. Two at the line from Scales built Maryville's largest lead of the day at 44-39 with 16 minutes to play. The teams traded the lead, and Jackson's jumper was pure for a 51-50 edge at the 9:40 mark. However, the Hawks scored eight straight to grab a 58-50 advantage. Down double digits, Scales had a 3-pointer and Swims scored on a layup. A drive by Jackson pulled the Saints to within 64-61 with 3:34 remaining. Maryville chipped away at the deficit and got as close as 69-67 after two free throws by
Harrison Vickers with just over a minute to play. However, the Saints never got any closer.
