Normandy, Mo. – The Maryville women's basketball team saw a final minute rally fall short as Missouri-St. Louis held on for a 68-56 win. With just under a minute to play in the game,
Antoinette Mussorici reached 1,000 points for her collegiate career. She finished with a team-high 17 points in the contest.
Haidyn Pitsch added 14 points, while
Taylor Kirby contributed 10 points.

What Happened:
Taylor Kirby scored the opening points of the game but the Tritons tallied 10 straight points.
CiCi Rindy powered up for a layup to stop UMSL's run. The Saints scored the final six points of the quarter to trim the gap to 12-10, and tied the game early in the second at 12-12. UMSL used a late 7-2 run to take a 25-18 lead into halftime.

The Tritons led by as many as 16 points but a
Hunter Stidham bucket late in the third cut the gap to 47-33 after three.
Haidyn Pitsch drilled a quick trey to open the fourth quarter. The Saints did not allow UMSL to pull away but was still down 58-45 before making a late charge. Pitsch scored on a layup, and Stidham scored in the lane to cut the gap to single digits. After one Stidham free throw,
Taylor Kirby converted a layup as the Saints closed to 58-52 with 1:40 to play. Mussorici hit a layup to reach 1,000 points in her career and bring the gap to 60-54 in the final minute. However, the Tritons hit all eight free throw attempts in the waning moments to hold off the Maryville rally.
