ST. LOUIS – After falling into a 2-0 hole in the first half, Maryville women's soccer battled back in the second with a pair of goals to tie the University of Missouri – St. Louis on Friday evening.
Molly Krispin began the Saints' comeback with a goal at 60:55 and
Lexi Gentry scored the equalizer with less than two minutes remaining.

The tie with the Tritons pushes Maryville's record to 5-0-5 (20 points) in Great Lakes Valley Conference play to put them in a tie for second place. Additionally, they are now 7-2-5 overall and 5-2-2 in home games.

UMSL started quickly with an early 11th-minute goal from Jalyn Richardson. Cammie Robinson doubled their lead three minutes before halftime to put the Saints in a 2-0 deficit heading into the break.

The Tritons continued to pressure with a shot on Saints goalkeeper
Katie Nash at 52:48, still riding the last half's momentum. Maryville, however, put fresh legs on the field at 59:20 and the momentum shifted in a hurry.

The home team earned a corner kick at 59:34 and another one at 60:04. Still in the offensive zone,
Lexi Gentry sent a ball into the box that pinballed around before getting punched away by the UMSL goalkeeper to a waiting
Molly Krispin who netted her second goal of the year.

The resilient Saints continued to press with a shot on goal from
Madison Canoy. Two minutes later, Gentry sent a rocket toward the goal and nearly tied the game on a ball that hit the crossbar and almost dropped behind the goal line.

Later in the second, with a few minutes remaining in the game, freshman
Gina Catanzaro again hit the crossbar for the Saints.
Erin Barnes found the loose ball and had a blocked shot find Gentry who buried the game-tying goal at 88:30.

The junior from San Diego, Calif., attempted to score the game-winner at 89:24 as well but missed out right before time expired on a 2-2 draw.

Next up for women's soccer is a Senior Day matchup against Missouri S&T on Sunday, Oct. 16. Kickoff is scheduled for noon at the Maryville Soccer Field.
