ST. LOUIS – Goals from
Ashlyne Hunt,
Hannah Kostelz, and
Lexi Gentry led the Saints past Rockhurst University on Sunday with a 3-0 final score. Maryville women's soccer remained unbeaten in the Great Lakes Valley Conference, improving their record to 4-0-3 in a tie for second place with 15 points.

The Hawks controlled a majority of the possession in the first half, forcing starting Saints goalkeeper
Katie Nash to make a save at 23:15. Maryville was outshot 4-2 in total but came out stronger in the second half.

At 53:18,
Gina Catanzaro carried the ball into the goalie box and fired a shot that nearly snuck past Rockhurst goalkeeper Taylor James. The deflected save found
Ashlyne Hunt's foot near the left post and the O'Fallon, Mo. native fired it home for a 1-0 Maryville advantage. The tally gave Hunt a goal in her fourth consecutive game and her fifth over that span.

Eight minutes later,
Tori Calvert sent a corner kick into the box.
Hannah Kostelz met the ball and sent a bouncing shot into the top of the goal for her second tally in as many games to double the lead.
Lexi Gentry continued to pile on with her fourth of the season, scoring a goal from a deep free kick at 81:31.

The Maryville defense allowed just four shot attempts to the visitors in the final 45 minutes, keeping the Hawks' offense off the scoresheet. Nash and the Saints pick up their sixth shutout of the season as they move to 6-2-3 overall in 2022.

Next up for the women's soccer team is a road matchup on Friday, Oct. 7, against Drury University. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m. in Springfield, Mo.
