Volleyball Team Sees Win Streak Come to an End at Missouri S&T

Rolla, Mo. – The Maryville volleyball team made the trek to Missouri S&T looking for its fourth straight victory but the Miners won 25-16, 25-17, 25-16. The Saints 33 kills nearly matched the 37 by the Miners. However, Missouri S&T finished the night with a .250 hitting percentage to end the Maryville streak at three wins.

Hanna Dressing's kill built an 11-8 lead for the Saints in set one. The Miners rallied to take a 12-11 edge. Taylor Keck recorded a kill to force a tie at 12-all. Deadlocked at 13-13, Missouri S&T scored four straight to take the lead and stayed in front the rest of the way.
 
The second set was tied at 3-3 until Dressing had a kill to start a 4-0 run. Grace Graham's kill put the Saints on top 7-3. Maryville stayed out front and led 10-6 after an Ella Brinkmann kill. The Miners scored seven straight points to jump ahead. The Saints were only down 15-13 before the Miners put together a 5-0 run. Maryville was up 8-6 following a Brinkmann kill but the Miners tallied eight of the next nine points. The Saints cut the gap to 16-11 on a block by Graham and Lynsey Batson, but never got any closer.

The Saints play their final road contest of the season when they make the short trip to the north side of the city to take on the University of Missouri-St. Louis Saturday, in a 3 p.m. contest in the Mark Twain Building.
