Bret Heil was selected the Great Lakes Valley Conference Wrestler of the Week as announced Tuesday, Nov. 22. Heil dominated with four falls to win the Lindenwood Open at the 174-pound weight class.

Heil started his day with a fall in just 2:11. In the quarterfinals, he defeated a Division I wrestler from Northwestern with a pin in 4:25. Heil had another fall against a DI opponent, this time in only 65 seconds. In the title match, he recorded his fourth straight fall as he pinned Anthony Des Vigne from Central Oklahoma at the 2:17 mark.

Heil picks up the award for the second time in his career. He was the last Maryville wrestler to earn the honor, pairing with the recognition Feb. 8, 2022. Heil and the Saints are next in action at the Jim Koch Wisconsin Open Saturday, Dec. 3.
