UIndy Ends Saints Three-Game Win Streak as Palacios Paces Maryville With 19 Points

St. Louis – The Maryville men's basketball team had its three-game winning streak snapped 75-58 by Indianapolis Sunday afternoon. Ben Palacios hit 8-of-13 shots and paced the Saints with 19 points. Kelvin Swims chipped in 13 points, while Ari Jackson snared seven rebounds.

The Greyhounds grabbed the early lead and were up 16-7 before the Saints scored six straight points. Jake Peterson hit one free throw, Ari Jackson knocked down a 3-pointer, and Ben Palacios had a driving layup to pull the Saints to within 16-13. Maryville was still only down 25-19 after a Harrison Vickers bucket inside but the Greyhounds tallied seven straight to go up by double digits. Kelvin Swims' layup pulled the Saints to within 34-24 before UIndy settled for a 45-28 advantage at the break.
 
The Greyhounds built on their cushion to begin the second half before the Saints made a push. Palacios sank a 3-pointer, and Jaeden Smith splashed a wing triple. Palacios scored in the lane as Maryville pulled to within 51-38. UIndy kept a double-digit margin, and the Saints cut the gap to 66-52 with just over five minutes left to play. However, they were unable to cut the deficit down to single digits.
