LYNCHBURG, Va. – Maryville's M1 Ice Hockey team earned a split in Lynchburg, Va., last weekend against the Liberty University Flames. The Saints wrap up the first semester as the 12th-ranked team in the American Collegiate Hockey Association with a 13-5 overall record.

With over 3,000 fans in attendance on a national ESPN+ broadcast for their annual December Midnight Mayhem game on Friday night, the Saints upset the third-ranked Flames with a 3-2 win. Maryville outshot Liberty 44 to 39 with goals coming from
Jack Harrison (7),
TJ Prexler (10), and
Lucas Adams (7) who netted the game-winner.
Ed Coffey improved his 2022 record to 7-1-0, saving 37 of 39 shots.

The Flames responded in game two on Saturday with a 6-1 victory over the Saints.
Jake Chartier (4) had the team's lone goal on assists from Adams and
Jaxon White.

TJ Prexler leads the Saints with 21 points in 18 games at the end of the first semester, trailed by Adams (16) and brother
Timon Prexler (14). Coffey has been a stalwart in 10 starts in net, posting a .926 save percentage and a minuscule 1.87 goals against average.

After the Virginia road trip, Maryville hits an extended break before opening the second semester on Friday, Jan. 6, against No. 16 Illinois State University. Puck drop is scheduled for 8:15 p.m. at the Maryville University Hockey Center.
