North Canton, Ohio – The Maryville men's lacrosse team opened the 2022 season with a dominating 17-5 victory at Walsh. The Saints scored the first 11 goals of the contest and cruised to the win. Aidan Koenig tallied a hat trick in the first half and finished with four goals, while Justin Morgan scored three times. Jacob Allen added two goals and dished out five assists. The Saints had nine different goal scorers.

Koenig scored just after one minute had elapsed to give the Saints a 1-0 lead 67 seconds into the tilt. Allen tallied to double the Maryville lead to 2-0. After Ethan Olson got on the board, Reid Usrey found the back of the net 30 seconds later. Usrey scored in the final seconds of the quarter as Maryville grabbed a 5-0 lead.
 
Koenig opened the scoring in the second quarter. After Matt Martyn and Morgan got onto the scoresheet, Koenig fired in a goal midway through to complete a hat trick. His last tally of the first half pushed the Saints ahead 11-0. Jaxon Snyder made four saves in the opening 30 minutes of play to shutout the Cavaliers.
 
Walsh finally scored three minutes into the third before the Saints answered with three more tallies. Maryville led by as much as 14-1 before cruising to the season-opening win. The Saints set a school record by winning 21 total face-offs on the day.
