Painesville, Ohio – The Maryville men's lacrosse team capped its weekend in Ohio with a 14-11 triumph at Lake Erie Sunday. The Saints scored the final three goals to open the season with a perfect 2-0 mark. Reid Usrey scored five goals and added an assist, while Tyler Wenck recorded a hat trick.

Lake Erie scored the opening goal but the Saints stormed back with four straight scores. Wenck tied the game, and Clayton Cerett pushed Maryville ahead. Jacob Allen and Usrey scored for a 4-1 lead. Maryville took a 6-2 edge into the second quarter. Usrey and Ethan Olson scored early in the second to help the Saints lead at halftime 9-5.
 
Usrey completed his hat trick on a man-up goal early in the third for a 10-5 lead. Lake Erie came all the way back to tie the game at 10-10 going into the final 15 minutes. Koenig scored within two minute for an 11-10 edge, and Usrey found the back of the net for two-goal margin. LEC pulled one goal back but Wenck fired in his third goal with five minutes left to restore a 13-11 lead. The Saints made a key defensive stop in the final minutes, and Usrey sealed the victory with his fifth goal in the waning seconds.
