St. Louis – The Maryville men's volleyball team recorded its third straight win as the Saints battled by Fontbonne 20-25, 25-21, 25-23, 25-22.
Tate Sandvig hammered 17 kills while hitting .316, and
Luke Van Handel finished with 10 kills and 10 digs.
Avery Pohlman came up with a team-high 15 digs.

The Griffins had their best hitting percentage of the night and won the opening set. The Saints were down 17-15 in the second set but reeled off nine straight points to earn a set point. Sandvig started the run with a kill and Fontbonne committed three consecutive errors. Sandvig notched another kill and
Cole Torrence followed.
Jacob Fischer served three straight aces to get to 24-17. The set ended on a Sandvig kill.

The Saints took a small lead in set three and were up 16-11. Fontbonne tied the set 19-19 but Maryville answered with three consecutive points. Sandvig started the run, and after a block by Torrence and Van Handel, a kill by Van Handel built a 22-19 edge. The teams traded points until
Mason Mortimer ended the set 25-23.

Fontbonne led for most of the fourth set until the Saints rallied to close out the victory. Mortimer notched a kill, and the Griffins had a hitting error. A Van Handel kill pushed the Saints ahead 23-22, and a block by
Cameron Chambers and Torrence led to match point. Van Handel's kill closed out the match 25-22.
