St. Louis – The Maryville men's volleyball team bounced back from a five-set loss yesterday by easing to a 25-14, 25-12, 28-26 victory over University Health Sciences and Pharmacy Wednesday evening.
Tate Sandvig hit .429 with 14 kills, while
Westin Roy finished with 12 digs, and
Ethan Beyreis-Heim recorded 10 assists. Maryville's defense held USHP to a -.108 hitting percentage.

The Saints blazed the nets at a .421 clip to jump ahead. With set one tied at 1-1, Maryville reeled off five straight points. Sandvig notched a kill, and after two UHSP errors, Van Handel served an ace. Another Eutectic miscue led to a 6-1 lead. Up 13-10, the Saints took control with a 6-0 run.

Set two was close at 12-11 until the Saints closed with a rush by scoring 13 of the next 14 points. UHSP had an error before the Saints notched three straight kills. UHSP tallied one point to get to 16-12 but the Saints reeled off nine consecutive points. Sandvig keyed the burst with three kills.

UHSP led the final set 13-10 before the Saints tied the score at 14-14. Neither team led by more than one point as the set reached extra points. Maryville had three match points but UHSP saved each one. At 26-all, Sandvig put down a kill for another match point. This time,
Caden Klingbeil put away the game-clinching point.
