St. Louis - The Maryville baseball team lost the opening game of a four-game series with Truman State by a 15-3 count Friday. The Saints led 2-1 after five innings but the Bulldogs hung crooked numbers late in the game to win the first contest.

Joey Polak singled home
Michael Gould for a quick 1-0 lead. Truman State tied the game in the top of the fifth but Polak again plated Gould for a 2-1 edge. However, the Bulldogs scored five runs in the sixth and seventh innings to pull away for the victory.

The Saints (3-4) and Truman State (4-9) continue the series with two seven-inning games Saturday, March 4, with action starting at Noon.
