Greenwood, S.C. – The Maryville men's lacrosse team pulled away in the fourth quarter to post a 15-12 victory at Lander. The Saints used a 5-1 burst to break the game open and take control.
Zach Baker fired in four goals and one assist to lead the way.
Reid Usrey notched a hat trick and added an assist to boost the offense.
Jaxon Snyder recorded a season-high 12 saves in the cage, while
Cooper George won 12 faceoffs.

Lander Recap
Tyler Wenck scored less than two minutes into the game to give the Saints an early 1-0 margin.
Ethan Olson and
Connor Eskridge followed with scores a minute apart for a 3-0 lead. Lander got on the scoreboard but
Reid Usrey and
Zach Baker tallied for a 5-1 lead. The Bearcats scored the last two goals as Maryville held a 5-3 edge after one. Lander used a 3-0 run to start the second quarter but Eskridge scored his second before Usrey tallied back-to-back goals for a hat trick and an 8-6 advantage. Lander came back to tie the game 8-8 at halftime.

David Yakel put the Saints ahead early in the third, and after the Bearcats tied the game,
Aidan Koenig gave Maryville a 10-9 lead after three quarters.
Clayton Cerett and Baker scored 12 seconds apart early in the fourth for a 12-9 lead. Lander pulled one score back but the Saints responded with three straight goals, one by
Aidan Koenig from the wing and two straight by Baker, to put the game away.
