Columbia, S.C. – The Maryville men's volleyball team closed out its long road trip by winning the second match at Benedict College. The Tigers won the first match 25-21, 25-14, 28-30, 26-24 before the Saints bounced back to take the second 25-22, 25-17, 18-25, 25-18.
 
Benedict Match One Recap
Benedict led for most of set one before the Saints made a late push. Down 20-13, 
Luke Van Handel notched three straight kills. Still down by five, Maryville got as close as 23-21 on a 
Jacob Fischer ace but the Tigers held on for the win. Benedict used a 7-0 run in set two to take a lead it would not surrender.
 
In the third set, the score was tied 12 times and was still deadlocked at 24-24. The Saints were unable to convert three set points but also saved one match point. Trailing 28-27, 
Mason Mortimer had a kill, and Benedict had a hitting error. A final miscue by the Tigers handed the Saints a 30-28 win. The fourth set saw Benedict take an early lead but the Saints slowly rallied to tie the score at 19-19. Benedict scored four straight points but the Saints answered with a 5-0 run. However, the Tigers tallied the final three points to take the opener.

Benedict Match Two Recap
Trailing 13-12 in set one, the Saints scored five straight points to take the lead. Benedict closed to within 24-22 but Victory Ganev's kill ended the set for Maryville. The Saints were holding on to a narrow 9-8 edge before scoring five consecutive points for a 14-8 margin. The Tigers got as close as 15-13 until the Saints scored five of the next six points to regain control en route to a 25-17 win.
 
The Saints had their lowest hitting percentage of the night in the third set, and the Tigers had their best kill percentage as Benedict cut the match score to 2-1. In the fourth set, Maryville broke a 6-6 tie with three straight points. The Saints led 12-10 until Fischer notched two kills during a 4-0 run for a 16-10 advantage. The Maryville margin never fell below five the rest of the way as the Saints won the finale 25-18.
