ST. LOUIS – Maryville baseball fell just short of a comeback victory on Sunday, dropping the final game of the weekend series to Drury with an 8-7 final.

The Panthers jumped out to another early lead in game four, posting two in the first inning, two in the second, and one in the third. Maryville got a two back on a Drury error in the second and a home run from
Dominic Connolly in the third to pull within three runs.

The visiting offense continued to score, getting another one in the fourth and one in the fifth. The Saints eventually responded in the bottom of the sixth on
Alex Hoff's two-run home run, his sixth of the season.

Now down 7-4 in the eighth, redshirt sophomore
Nick Hofmann ripped a two-run shot off the scoreboard in left field to cut the lead to one. The Panthers added insurance in the top of the ninth with one run on a wild pitch.

Facing closer Nate Boyle with two outs in the bottom half,
Joey Polak hit a solo home run for his third hit of the day to bring the Saints back to within striking distance.
Elias Stevens followed up with a single, but Boyle bounced back with the final out to strand the tying run at first base.
