ST. CHARLES, Mo. – The Saints will take on Lewis University in an elimination game on Saturday after falling to the University of Illinois Springfield in the second round of the Great Lakes Valley Conference tournament on Friday afternoon.

The Prairie Stars got to the Saints starter early, scoring four runs in the top of the first. They got two more in the next frame to open a 6-0 lead through two.
 
UIS struck for another pair in the top of the fifth, but Maryville tried to chip away with two in the bottom of the fifth when Alex Hoff began the inning with a hit by pitch. A walk to Michael Gould brought up Andy Bunton who singled home a run with a hit to left. Nick Hofmann plated his team's second run with an RBI single through the right side in the next at-bat.
 
The GLVC Blue Division's number one seed went on to post one in the seventh and three in the eighth to finish off a 12-2 short-game victory over the Saints in eight innings.
