St. Louis – The Maryville women's volleyball team grabbed one set from No. 4 Missouri Baptist but the host Spartans held on for a 25-23, 25-21, 20-25, 25-19 win over the Saints.
Ella Brinkmann notched a double-double on 12 kills and 12 digs, while
Taylor Hasbrook recorded a team-high 17 digs. The loss snapped Maryville's three-match winning streak.

In a tightly contested first set, Maryville trailed 12-11 before
Grace Graham and
Lily Brown sandwiched kills around an MBU error for a 14-12 lead. The Spartans took the lead at 19-17 before the Saints forged a tie at 20-all. The home squad tallied three straight before the Saints closed to 24-23 but MBU converted set point for the lead. The Saints went on two 4-0 runs with the second turning a 13-11 deficit to a 15-13 edge. Maryville still led 16-14 but Missouri Baptist used an 8-0 burst to take command.

In the third set, the Saints scored six of seven points to surge to a 10-5 cushion. MBU slowly inched ahead and eventually went up 19-16. Maryville answered with four straight points to grab a 20-19 lead. After the Spartans tied the score, the Saints reeled off five straight points capped by a block by
Caroline Glastetter and
Ella Brinkmann for a 25-20 win. The fourth set saw the Saints build a three-point lead and went up by a 13-11 score. However, MBU rallied with a 7-0 run and held off a late Maryville rally.
Taylor Keck added seven kills, while
Rachel Schipper directed the offense with 22 assists.
