St. Louis – In its home opener, the Maryville women's volleyball team rolled to a sweep over Fontbonne Tuesday evening in Moloney Arena. Set scores were 25-15, 25-17, 25-16. The Saints had three players record double-digit kills, and
Ella Brinkmann recorded a double-double on 12 kills and 11 digs while hitting .409.

The Saints scored the first three points of the match and never surrendered the lead. Maryville slowly stretched out its lead and closed the set scoring four straight points. Set two saw the same strong start as the Saints roared to a 5-0 run. After Fontbonne scored its first point, the Saints went on another 5-0 burst. The Griffins got as close as 18-11 but the Maryville margin grew to double digits. The Saints held Fontbonne to just a .053 hitting percentage.

The visitors edged out to an early advantage in set three and were still up 12-9.
Caroline Glastetter had a kill to spark a 3-0 burst that tied the set at 12-12. The Griffins went back up 15-13 before the Saints stormed ahead. An
Ella Brinkmann kill ignited a 6-0 run, and an error by Fontbonne put the Saints on top 20-15. The Griffins scored one more point before Maryville tallied five-in-a-row to close the match. The Saints hit .343 in the final set while holding Fontbonne to just a .029 hitting percentage.

Glastetter finished with 10 kills and hit .353, while
Grace Graham also recorded 10 kills.
Taylor Hasbrook came up with 15 digs to top Maryville.
