Despite Career-High 29 Points from Pitsch, Saints Drop Decision at McKendree

Lebanon, Ill. – Haidyn Pitsch poured in a career-high 29 points, the most by a Maryville player this season, but the Maryville women's basketball squad dropped an 81-67 road decision at McKendree. Pitsch, who is averaging 22.3 points over her last three games, hit 12-of-23 shots from the field.

Taylor Kirby scored on the game's opening possession, and Carsyn Fearday added a layup for an early 4-0 lead. The Bearcats rallied and the game was tied at 13-13 after two Pitsch free throws. McKendree went on a 10-4 to close the quarter and take the lead. The Bearcats built a double-digit lead and took a 39-28 edge into the break.
 
Pitsch hit back-to-back buckets early in the third quarter as the Saints sliced the gap down to 41-34. The Saints staying within striking distance, and a Pitsch triple made it 60-51 late in the third. McKendree again pushed its lead to double digits. The Saints rallied one last time, and a Kirby layup drew Maryville to 69-60 with 5:57. However, Maryville was unable to get any closer.
 
Antoinette Mussorici and Kirby both finished with 12 points, and Kirby grabbed a team-high seven rebounds.
