Quincy, Ill. – The Maryville men's volleyball team was tripped up at Quincy Wednesday evening 25-19, 25-21, 25-19.
Victor Ganev led the Saints with 10 kills,
Cameron Chambers recorded 25 assists, and
David Fleischer hit .625 and chipped in five blocks.

Quincy recap
The Hawks grabbed the early lead by scoring the first eight points of the match. After a QU hitting error, Ganev had Maryville's first kill of the night. The Saints made a mini run as Drew Roger's kill was the start of three straight and four of the next five. Maryville used another 3-0 burst to cut into the Quincy edge. A QU error, a block by Fleischer and Rogers and a Ganev kill pulled the Saints to within 19-13. However, the Saints never got any closer.

A kill by
Luke Van Handel followed by a block from Ganev and
Jacob Fischer gave the Saints a quick 2-1 lead to open the second set. Quincy edged ahead but the Saints stayed close. A Van Handel kill pulled Maryville to 12-11. The Hawks stretched their lead out before Ganev put down a kill to spark a 3-0 run. QU scored on point before a Fleischer kill and Quincy error pulled the Saint to within one point at 22-21. The Hawks scored the final three points to take the set.

Trailing 6-5 in the third, Van Handel recorded a kill, Fischer and Ganev teamed up on a block and a QU error pushed the Saints ahead 8-6. The Hawks reeled off a 6-0 run until the Saints scored three of the next four points to get within two at 13-11. Quincy stretched out to a 17-11 lead before
Cameron Chambers put down a ball, and Fleischer's solo block brought the Saints to 17-13. However, Maryville never got any closer as the Hawks held on for the win.
