Rolla, Mo. – Despite a career-best 21 points from
Dewayne Vass, Maryville men's basketball saw a late rally come up short as Missouri S&T held on for an 87-83 win over the Saints.
Ben Palacios scored 20 points, including four 3-pointers, and
Harrison Vickers added 18 points, one off his career high.

Tied at 35-35 at halftime, the Saints scored the first three points of the second half.
Dewayne Vass made a layup, and
Dylan Ingram sank one free throw.
Kelvin Swims sank a jumper, and
Colin Schuler drilled a 3-pointer to put the Saints up 43-37. Vass scored on consecutive layups as the Saints took their largest lead of the game at 47-39 at the 16:31 mark. The Miners rallied to grab a 49-48 advantage.

Harrison Vickers scored to push Maryville back on top 54-52 until Missouri S&T scored eight straight points. The deficit stood at 64-58 before Vickers drilled a 3-pointer to halve the margin with 8:49 left to play. The Miners edged back out to a 72-62 lead but Ingram answered with a triple. Swims hit two free throws, and a Vickers bucket inside brought the Saints to 75-69. Vass went on a personal 5-0 run to draw the Saints to within 77-74 at the 1:38 mark. The Miners scored but Vickers answered with two at the line to get the gap to 79-76 with 46.5 ticks left. Vass had a layup to inch the Saints to within 82-78 but that was as close as Maryville would get.
