Hammond, Ind. – On day one of the Midwest Crossover Tournament, Maryville volleyball dropped both of its contests. Hillsdale halted the Saints 25-20, 19-25, 27-25, 25-15, while Michigan Tech dealt the Saints a 25-23, 26-24, 25-19 defeat.

Hillsdale recap
The Saints posted more kills than Hillsdale but the Chargers took set one. Maryville pounded down 20 kills and did not commit an error in set two to even the match. Down 18-17, the Saints reeled off seven straight points to surge ahead. Makenna Baruman started the run with a kill, and Hillsdale committed two errors.
Ella Brinkmann had a kill to push the Saints ahead 24-18, and
Taylor Keck ended the set with a kill.

Set three had Hillsdale leading 22-20 before a Charger error and a kill by Brinkmann tied the set at 22-all. Hillsdale had two straight set points but
Hannah Scrum saved them both with kills. However, at 25-25, Hillsdale scored back-to-back points to win it. In the fourth set,
Hanna Dressing had a kill to cut the deficit to 12-11 but the Chargers tallied five straight points to surge into the lead. The Saints had their lowest hitting percentage in the fourth set as Hillsdale closed out the match.

MTU hit .276 in the contest while the Saints managed just a .140 mark in the Friday finale. Neither team led by more than three points. The Saints rallied and forced a tie at 20-all. Maryville eventually edged ahead and earned a set point after
Caroline Glastetter's kill to make it 23-22. MTU scored three straight and took the opening set.

The Saints outscored the Huskies 5-1 to build an 11-5 advantage early in set two. MTU rallied and tied the score at 13-13. Maryville put down three straight kills to retake a 16-13 margin. The Huskies came back and took a 21-18 lead. The Saints stormed back by scoring six straight points. Brauman had a kill to start the run, and Dressing's finish handed Maryville a 24-21 lead. However, the Huskies responded with five points for a 2-0 lead in sets.

In the third set, there were six early ties with Dressing putting down a kill for a 10-10 tie. MTU reeled off five consecutive points until the Saints used an error and a Glastetter kill to pull within 16-12. Trailing 20-15, the Saints tallied four of the next five points. Another kill by Glastetter cut the gap down to 22-19 but Maryville never got any closer.
