St. Louis – Playing its second consecutive ranked team, the Maryville volleyball team battled against No. 13 Lewis but the Flyers held off the Saints 25-21, 25-23, 25-11.
Caroline Glastetter paced the Saints with 10 kills, and
Hanna Dressing chipped in six kills while hitting .385.

Tied at 11-11 in the opening set, Lewis committed an error, and
Lynsey Batson and
Ella Brinkmann followed with consecutive kills for a 14-11 advantage. The Saints stayed ahead and took an 18-16 edge after a solo block by Batson and a
Taylor Keck kill. However, the Flyers tallied four straight and held on for the 25-21 decision.

Maryville took the early lead in set two by scoring the first three points. The Saints still were up 9-8 but Lewis tallied three straight to edge in front. Down by two, Glastetter had a kill, and
Rachel Schipper served an ace to tie the set. After a Lewis error,
Makenna Brauman put down a kill for a 16-14 advantage. Lewis inched back ahead at 20-18 before the Saints made another rush.
Grace Graham hammered down a kill, and
Abbie Schnell served an ace. A kill by Glastetter put Maryville on top 21-20. However, Lewis scored three of the next four points and went ahead 23-21. The Saints saved one set point but the Flyers converted at 25-23.

The Saints broke on top and opened the set three with four straight points, capped by Dressing's kill. The Flyers chipped away at the deficit but Maryville was still up 7-6. Lewis took its first lead and went up 9-7. The Saints were still in striking range as 12-10 before the Flyers reeled off a 7-0 run to take control.
