TIFFIN, Ohio – Maryville men's soccer defeated Tiffin University 2-0 on Sunday to advance to the NCAA Third Round. The Saints got a shutout from
Nick Hemann and goals from
Tim Smith and
Jimmy Doherty to advance past the Dragons. Â

Run of Play:
- Maryville got a few shot attempts off in the fifth minute before Tiffin responded with sustained pressure and a pair of shots in the 10th minute.
- Nick Hemann was forced to make his first save of the afternoon in the 35th minute when Tate Newman tried to put a shot over his head.
- Three minutes out of halftime, Tim Smith took a pass from Yayo Mutombo and put a shot by the charging goalkeeper to put the Saints up 1-0.
- The game started getting more physical midway through the second half, with four total cards handed out before the 83rd minute.
- Jimmy Doherty doubled the lead at 82:05 after he was rolled a pass in the middle of the box from Tim Smith who collected the ball of a corner.
- In the 85th minute, Nick Hemann denied a Tiffin penalty kick to his right to keep the shutout intact.
- Â Maryville fought through an increasingly physical game to wrap up a 2-0 shutout win in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
