St. Louis - A 16-0 run proved decisive as the Maryville men's basketball team rolled to an 87-71 triumph over Harding.
Trey Redd and
Luke Williams both tallied 17 points apiece, while
Ari Jackson and
Anthony Holden scored 15 and 10 points, respectively. The Saints shot 63.9 percent in the field half (23-of-36) to key the win.

Up 7-5, the Saints stunned the Bison with 16 straight points. Jackson hit the first of his five 3-pointers to spark the run. Maryville collected driving layups from
Luke Williams and Redd, while
Colin Schuler knocked down a jumper for a 16-5 advantage. Williams connect from long range, and
Dewayne Vass had a steal and layup.
JT Morgan grabbed an offensive rebound and his put back was good for a 23-5 lead.

Harding finally scored on a free throw as Maryville gave up its first points in more than six minutes. Jackson drained a triple as the Saints extended their lead. The margin grew to as many as 27 points before the Saints settled for a 57-32 lead at halftime. In addition to their 63.9 percent shooting, the Saints hit 9-of-16 from beyond the arc. Maryville forced Harding into 11 turnovers.

Up by 20 early in the second half, the Saints went on a 10-0 run.
Tutu Chisholm had a second chance bucket, and Vass converted a layup. Holden drilled a 3-pointer, and Redd sank one free throw. A bucket by Williams pushed the advantage to 71-41 with 13 minutes to play. With the reserves seeing most of the action the rest of the way, the Saints easily held on for their second consecutive win to start the season.

Redd sank 7-of-10 from the field en route to his career high scoring output, while also dishing out seven assists and grabbing five boards. Jackson hit five of his six attempts from 3-point range, while Vass came up with five steals on the day.
