Rolla, Mo. – Despite a career-high 19 points from
JT Morgan and 18 points from
Dewayne Vass, the Maryville men's basketball squad lost a 95-81 decision at Missouri S&T. Vass sank 8-of-9 shots from the field, while Morgan converted at a 70 percent clip (7-of-10). The Miners shot 73.7 percent from beyond the arc which proved to be the difference in the contest.

The Miners led for most of the first half but Vass scored the final bucket before intermission as the Saints trailed just 48-45.
Ari Jackson scored on a layup to begin the second half to pull Maryville to 58-47. However, Missouri S&T scored 11 straight points to go up by double digits. Morgan and
Trey Redd hit consecutive layups to trip the margin to 59-51. The Saints used a 9-2 run and got to within 69-63. Morgan had a three-point play and followed with another bucket. Vass and a short jumper by
Tutu Chisholm made it just 69-63 midway through the second half.

After a Miner score, Morgan drilled a 3-pointer, and two at the line by Chisholm pulled the Saints to 71-68 with 8:55 to play. However, the Miners went on an 11-2 burst and re-established a double-digit lead. The Saints made a push after back-to-back buckets by Jackson and
Luke Williams to trim the deficit to 85-76 with four minutes remaining. However, Maryville never got any closer as the Miners held off a late Saints rush.
